Hamas FM Zahar refers to 'two-state solution' in letter to Annan
In his first letter to Annan, Mahmoud Zahar also refers to the Palestinians hope to "live in peace and security... side by side with our neighbors in this sacred part of the world."
Israel Radio reported Wednesday morning that a senior official from the Palestinian Authority Foreign Ministry denied the letter contained any implicit recognition of Israel.
To those puzzled by the apparent contradiction between the two statements:read carefully and take the words at their face values! "Our neighbors" refers to Syrians, Lebanese, Saudis, perhaps, even to the treacherous Jordanians and Egyptians. The notion of 'two-state solution' appears only in the Ha'Aretz headline.
